Chiply

Terms of Service

These are the terms for using chiply.app and, once it launches, the Chiply app. We have tried to write them so that anyone can read them in ten minutes and know what Chiply is, what it is not, and how to leave. If anything is unclear, email support@chiply.app and ask. We would much rather answer a question now than have a disagreement later.

The short version: Chiply teaches poker decisions. It is not gambling and nothing in it can be bet or won, ever. It is for adults 18 and over, and we make no promise about results at any table.

Who we are

Chiply is a product of Dalu Solutions, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Chiply” mean Dalu Solutions, and “you” means the person using the website or the app.

Who these terms cover

These are consumer terms. They are for people using Chiply for themselves, not for a business. They apply to you when you use chiply.app, join the waitlist or, once it launches, use the Chiply app.

The app is not in the app stores yet, so for now these terms cover the website and the waitlist.

What Chiply is

Chiply is an education app. It teaches how to make the decisions in No-Limit Texas Hold’em, from what beats what to pot odds, in short lessons. It is not a game of chance, it is not gambling, and it is not a place to play for money.

No real money, ever

Nothing in Chiply can be bet or won, and there is no real money in any lesson. The only thing you will be able to buy is a Pro subscription through the App Store or Google Play, and it is not on sale yet. The chips in the app are a reward for learning. They have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold or cashed out. There are no prizes, no deposits and no withdrawals. We do not offer real-money gambling and we do not link to anyone who does.

Adults only

You must be 18 or older to use Chiply or join the waitlist.

No promise about results

Chiply helps you understand poker decisions. It makes no promise that you will win, make money or improve at any particular rate, at any table, online or in person. What you do with what you learn is your decision, and we are not responsible for how it turns out.

The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free and creates no obligation on either side. You confirm your address by email, you can unsubscribe at any time, and what we do with your details is set out in our Privacy Policy.

We cannot promise a launch date, and being on the list does not give you any right to the app, a place in it or a price.

Free levels, and Pro later

Levels 1 to 3 are free. Later levels are planned to be part of a subscription called Pro, bought through the App Store or Google Play. Those stores take the payment and handle renewal and cancellation, under their own terms.

Nothing is for sale today, we take no payments, and there is no price yet. Before anything is sold we will update these terms with the terms of Pro: the price, how it renews, and how to cancel through the store. We will change the date at the top when we do.

Who owns what

Ours
The lessons, the drawings, Chip the chip, the Chiply name and the code that runs the website and the app. You may use them for yourself. You may not copy, republish or sell them.
Yours
Your email address and anything you write to us. You keep them, and you can ask us to delete them.

Your side of the deal

Please use Chiply fairly. In particular, you agree not to:

If Chiply is being used in a way that puts the service or other people at risk, we may stop that access. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

Availability and honest limits

We work to keep Chiply running and accurate. We do not promise a specific uptime figure, and we are not going to invent one. Parts of the website and the app will change, and we may stop some of them.

The waitlist database does not currently have backups or point-in-time recovery. It is on a free tier while Chiply is being built, which means that if it were lost, the waitlist could be lost with it. If that happened, you would need to sign up again. We will say so here when this changes.

Services we depend on

Running Chiply means relying on other companies. We choose them carefully, but we do not control them and cannot be responsible for their outages or their decisions:

Vercel
Hosting and delivery of the website.
Supabase
Database for the waitlist, and later for accounts.
Resend
Sending our emails.
Namecheap Private Email
Our mailbox: mail sent to our addresses.
App Store and Google Play
Where the app and Pro will be sold, once they are.
PostHog and RevenueCat
Planned for the app: usage analytics and subscriptions. Not in use yet.

Where your data physically sits, and what that means, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Liability

We provide Chiply with reasonable skill and care. To the extent the law allows, we make no other promises about it.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect losses. We are not responsible for anything that happens when you play poker, with or without money, away from Chiply. Where we are liable, our total liability to you for everything arising out of these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the consumer protection law of the province or country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect: by email if we have your address, and in the app once it exists. Minor corrections, such as a typo or a clearer sentence, take effect when published. A new service provider that handles personal data is a privacy change: we will update the Privacy Policy and the date, and announce significant ones.

The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and it is always the version that applies.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Disputes go to the courts of Alberta, sitting in Calgary.

Before that, though: write to us. Almost everything is fixable by a person reading your email and replying properly, and that is how we would prefer to settle things.
